Stainless Steel Shaft
Problem: During the assembly of the stainless steel shaft with the glass filled plastic counterpart, the pressure applied by the stainless steel knurl caused excessive pressure on the plastic counter part and would fracture or split the material causing an immediate and or future field failure.
Solution: Topcraft sales/engineering team listening and learning to determine the exact problem and root cause. After completion of the root cause analysis, we developed a turning process fix to add to the knurls ability to interface with the glass fill plastic without fracturing the body.
Outcome: Our customer was able to deliver a solution to the market place and end any concern that potentially was going to cause loss of capital or even loss of the project. One very happy customer!
Diesel Engine Adapter
Problem: Heat treating variation and overseas value stream caused defects and complicated logistics.
Solution: Topcraft sales/engineering team listening and learning, provided an engineering value stream solution. Topcraft developed a hot forging, heat treatment, machining solution. Machining the component in a heat-treated state gave the part the stability required. Also, machining it in close proximity to the customers facility simplified the value stream.
Outcome: Our customer’s supply and ability to respond to their customer increased greatly. One very happy customer!

Stainless Fuel System Pin
Problem: Customer was experiencing missing features and broken components and was having the supplier of the component 200% visual inspect all incoming product.
Solution: Topcraft sales/engineering team listening and learning, understood how critical it was to the customers assembly to have Zero Defect. We developed a multi-point vision check packaging system to prevent any potential defects from shipping to the customer.
Outcome: Zero defects upon delivery. Customer’s complete confidence and satisfaction was earned. One very happy customer!
Hex Shaped Main Support Shaft
Problem: Binding up on assembly with a mating hex component, severely restricting production throughput due to small nicks and any elevated surfaces.
Solution: Topcraft sales engineering team listening and learning, identified multiple sources (packaging, shipping, material handling, machining and washing) contributing to burring and damage. The Topcraft team produced a final packaging process where we would wash and remove any elevated surface on the main shaft, producing a perfected shaft at the end of the value stream as opposed to try to control all the potential sources of damage.
Outcome: The customer stated that after we took over with our designed value stream, they quickly realized their headache had gone away. One very happy customer!
